I'm not sure how September passed so quickly, but this week brings in October!!! We are enjoying nice weather lately, and my students are well into the routine of class. I want to tell you a bit about our science and social studies programs. When you check the parent portal, you'll find that those subjects have a grade scale that is Satisfactory, Needs Improvement, or Unsatisfactory. This set up is due to the fact that we are not able to teach these subjects full time, as we do with Math and Language Arts. The S-N-U grading system is still based on a point score. One of the difficulties students have tends to be taking these classes lightly and not prioritizing the work that is assigned. This is just to remind you that when these grades come out, they are also important, and the major problem tends to be from work that is not turned in. Your student will likely not have scheduled tests for these subjects, however there are grades assessed to these subjects, and the assigned work must be turned in!

I spent a day in the hospital with my son, and all is well. I missed my class, but considering everything, we had a good day. From the sub report, my class had a good day as well. I don't miss often, but there are those occasional times, and I would usually rather be in school! Another new week is upon us! See you all on Monday! We are off to a new school year, and I love school! I think I like the third week best of the beginning, as we're now into our studies, and away we go! Last week we had tests in math and reading, and your children have been writing. I'm very pleased with the work I'm seeing, as well as how well the students work together! I hope you're hearing good things about grade four at home! Tutoring is going well, and we are reading a book in class. Students are unable to take AR tests right now, but reading is still very important. Please encourage students to read at home. They'll enjoy the books, and you'll enjoy the quiet time to read some yourself! It is wonderful to be back at school, and getting into our routines, and our work. I hope your student is enjoying school so far. Work will continue as we are now into our lessons, and working on those fourth grade skills. Please note that you may contact me at any time, and I welcome your comments. I'm enjoying working with your children! |
