Happy Memorial Day! This first big holiday of the summer used to be celebrated by a big barbeque at my house---but this year there's no kids around. Still I hope it's a safe weekend for all!

When one thing is over (school) then other things begin (middle school). It's been a wonderful year for me with an incredible class. I'm so thankful that I've had the students that I've just sent on to be in middle school. They were a delight to work with, and a class I've grown to love, and hope to hear from in the future! Next year will bring new changes for us; they go to a new building, I go to a new room, and my graduate son at left goes to a new life in his career field. Pictured at left are my sons, Tim, me, Andrew, and Mark. Andrew just graduated from Medical school, and it's pretty hard to be humble as a mom! (And yes, he's wearing cowboy boots and shorts!) When things end, they merely begin again in another way, and I will welcome a new class of fourth graders in August while your students go on to fifth grade where new challenges await them. I wish them well, and will think about them often! I know they'll do well in middle school, and I'm proud to send them on! Thank you for sharing your children with me! There are two May graduations for my family. My baby, Tim, graduated from High School Friday night, and my son, Andrew (in the picture on the right) graduates from Medical School. They are pictured here with my mom at the ceremony! The ending of a school year is always a good/bad thing for me. It's good that I've had such an incredible class to work with, and such good parents. I received numerous thoughtful gifts for teacher appreciation last week, and I am touched by them all. Thank you so much! It has been a pleasure to work with your children! The "bad" part in that good/bad scenario is where I have to tell them goodbye at the end of this week. I am proud to send such accomplished students on to my colleagues in middle school, but I will be sad to see them leave. I would truly work with this class again another year, as I have loved them all! Each of your children has acquired the skills to go on and be a success in middle school, and one day perhaps I will be able to attend their high school graduation! I am so thankful that I have had this class. Thank you, each of my parents for allowing me to work with your children! Also, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the mothers and grandmothers who have touched my life and that of my children (my classroom children). You do a wonderful and truly important job! I am feeling the angst of the weather man lately, as again our weather for Tuesday isn't looking ideal for the trip to the spillway. We will again decide on when to go, but perhaps this day will allow us that diversion. Meanwhile, the end of school activities continue to often change our original intentions, but we ARE still learning, and grading, and moving on toward testing, so we have to hang in there for a bit longer. The end is close, however, and it's been a very good year! I hope everyone has heard that due to concerns about the weather, our trip to the park has been postponed until Tuesday, May 7. We will still be taking the fourth grade to the middle school tomorrow morning.
