It may be a busy week for us in fourth grade! We begin new units of study this week, and won't be having our end of the week tests this Friday. Oh, no, this Friday will be Halloween! We will observe the date with a half day of school, but it will be a full day of fun! We will be having a party in the classroom about 11:15, should you wish to send in goodies for the students. There are 27 in the class! They will be in costume, and it should be a fun day!

There are a lot of things going on this time of year! We have Halloween coming up, and our parent teacher conferences! Our Halloween celebrations will be on October 31 for a half day. We have limited time for a classroom party, but if you would like to send a treat for your child and his/her classmates, everyone would enjoy it! Following that on the next Monday (Nov.3) will be parent teacher conferences. I'd really like to meet with each of you to discuss how your child is doing in 4th grade. Please schedule a time to meet with me. Conferences are every 15 minutes between 11 am and 6 pm on that Monday. There will be no school for students, just conferences with us. Please ask your child to wait outside during the meeting, if they are with you. It is important to me that my students have a successful year in school, and if we are working as a team, the outcome is much better. Please come to conferences! It looks as if our Monday will begin stormy! No worries, we will still have plenty to do, and fun while we work. On Friday we worked with M&M data, which required us to have M&MS always a plus when working with anything! We don't have a lot of assigned homework, but we do have homework on occasion if we have not finished our classwork, so please ask your child about that. Also, check for graded papers that come home---this way you can help your child if you notice that he/she is having trouble in a particular area. Thank you for helping me help your child in fourth grade. I think fall has arrived! We will continue to go outside for recess, so please make sure in these cooler temperatures that your child is dressed in a coat or jacket. We have no inside alternative for that time. Also, if your child is ill, he or she should be at home. However, when school is missed, instruction is missed, and work. If your child has to be out of school, please send for the work they will miss. This is help them stay caught up for when they return. I do understand that sick children don't feel like doing homework, but it will be easy to fall behind with a few absences. Catching up on work when he or she begins to feel better will be easier for the student. |
