Maybe we'll actually see some spring-like weather soon....? I hope so, we have a lot to do! Welcome back to school!
Welcome April! As we return to school on April Fool's Day, I am hoping that everyone is ready to go back to work! I don't know the people in this picture (it was on the internet) but I like the giraffe, and would love that I could be so fortunate as to be that close to one--if this is a real picture. Anyway, with spring break behind us, it's time to press on toward our end of the year preparations for our test, and the final grades before they are transferred to middle school! The last weeks of school become very busy, so I'm hoping that we can all work with a determination to finish strong!

This is a picture of the day before our spring break. Not looking much like spring! However, we had a great week, busy, busy, busy, and I've posted pictures on a new page called photos for you to see. I hope everyone has a wonderful spring break, and I will contribute by not mentioning anything about school until just before we go back! It's been a busy week! As we wait for spring, we've had a taste or two of it, and spring break is just around the corner! I enjoy spring break just like anyone, but the MAP test looms just after we return from our time off. We will have homework this week again as we prepare for the skills needed for that test. During the week past we had Leprechaun cake (thank you, Mrs. Morris) and John visited our classrooom---that's my son who's in the picture at left, and he brought Spartacus in for another visit (I'll post pictures!) and we had that beautiful spring like day! Also, a treat for fourth grade teachers was to see Mrs. Radford's beautiful new baby granddaughter! So---it's been busy! Our big things coming up are metric measurement, and area and perimeter measurements, and money! It's incredible how quickly this school year is going by! Please help me try to keep my fourth graders motivated until the end! It's important that we're not too overcome with spring fever and start thinking that the last bit of school work is not that important! It really is that important! Thank you for all you do to help me with your children! I do appreciate you! WE have been enjoying books more lately, and are currently reading a Hank, The Cowdog book! (I love Hank!) Pictured at left is my son, Tim, reading to our class one afternoon. Our sprint now is toward those things that we need to accomplish before Spring Break at the end of the month! We are still tutoring, and I encourage you to allow your child to stay if possible, as we get more in depth into our study (and sometimes we learn a new game!) We are pressing on toward our goal of readiness for the MAP test that will be given in April. To that end, we have had a bit more homework lately, but it isn't difficult work, just work that students are to do on their own (or with your help, if need be!) I'm looking forward to seeing you and visiting again at conferences which are March 19th! I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with your children, and we are so near the end of our studies! Our purpose to meet this last time is to help your children finish strong as they leave elementary for Middle School next school year! These were some moves during our musical presentation of the group Wild Heart on Thursday. If you missed the evening presentation, you can visit their web site at www.wildheart.com and see some of their material and their message. We have a math test this week, and we continue to move closer to our April MAP test. Some homework will be coming home, but most of it won't take your student long to complete. QUIZ BOWL is this week, Tuesday, March 5. GO CES!!!! Join us in cheering on our children as they compete with other local schools on academic skills! |
AuthorI am Mrs. Jackson. I have been teaching fourth grade for many years now, and I love teaching! I am excited to work with your children, and hopeful that we will be working as a team to promote a successful year in fourth grade. Me in 4th grade.
