Ok, so winter is not over.I would've enjoyed our break more if I had had electricity for two of the four days. I hope that each of you has had a safe time away, and are ready for school to take off again tomorrow! Watch for new events on the Newsflash! page, I will add things as they come up. Maybe this will be a spring-like week!

This is my son, Mark, at work on his job with the Navy. I enjoy seeing pictures of my children, too, and encourage you to check out our site every week, as I will try to add new photos of your children working during our school day. As we continue flying through our fourth grade year, we will be continuing with geometry in math this week, and reviewing skills from the most recent reading unit. I know there were some concerns about grades in Social Studies, but now that our Famous Missiourian reports are completed, those grades should have balanced out. Thank you for sending treats to make our Valentine's party a success! That is our last "official" holiday party of the year, but my students are working to earn a "big ticket" party very soon. Watch this site for more information, and thank you for your help I enjoy a good thunderstorm! It is back to work tomorrow for a regular week of school! Our parties will be on Thursday afternoon. We all look forward to those! Some of my students were disappointed that their progress reports were mailed home rather than handed to them. The purpose of mid-quarter reports is to see what grades need extra attention before the end of the quarter! It is a requirement that some of the reports be mailed to you. I can tell you, however, that all of my students know how to do their work, but some struggle with organization, and fail to turn in all the assignments on time. This is the major reason for lower grades. Please help your child remember that work is important, and must be turned in. You are welcome to join us on Valentine's Day, if you wish, parties begin about 2:00. We have had paper products donated, so if you wish to send any treats for the students, they will appreciate those! We are also having a Valentine Card container contest! It should be fun! I love Superbowl weekend! Not because I'm a sports fan so much, but because for the 3 hours or so of the game, I can do anything except stand in front of the television! We have made it to February without missing any days for snow! (WE did miss that one water line day, but that's the way it goes sometimes..........) Our Valentine's Day parties are coming up soon, and they will be on Valentine's Day at 2:00. You are welcome to attend, if you'd like, and encouraged to send treats!!! We will be having a Valentine Box Competition for the best Valentine card containers! I will be sending home a class list with each student, and ask that all students be included in Valentine cards, because no one wants to feel left out! Work continues as school presses on toward that goal of completing our skills for fourth grade. Please encourage your student to continue to work hard, and turn in all work, so they can finish strong! Progress reports go home at the end of this week. Don't forget that Tuesday is only a half day of school, dismissing at 12:20 for teacher's meetings. Please be sure that your child knows where they are to go after school, in case this is different from regular day dismissals. Phil didn't see his shadow! Perhaps an early Spring is in order? We can only hope! Have a great week! |
